Why have I started this blog?

Like many people blogging about food, I love to cook. I am passionate about flavour. I also like to do what I can to reduce my carbon footprint (and that of my family). While this blog is a small thing in the scheme of things, if we cook seasonally as much as we can, not only will our food taste better, we are also using less transport, refrigeration and packaging. With a bit of luck, my food will be produced as locally. This is my attempt to cook as many seasonal meals as possible.

I am going to include the recipes of what I cook, as well as how I've cooked them. I find with many recipe books that they give you an individual recipe, but don't always tell you how to do a whole meal; for example, what vegetables or salads work best with what meat?

I am after the best flavour I can get for my meals - seasonal produce should taste the best and be the freshest, as it hasn't travelled thousands of kilometres to get into my shopping basket. So I am hoping this blog will make me a better cook, increase the flavour of my food and make my household a little "greener".

I also hope my recipes help you with your cooking and encourages you to cook seasonal!
